The denotations of this adverts is someone lips with lipstick applied with bandage on their mouth.
The connotations for lipstick are to be pretty or to impress others. The red symbolises love and kindness for all people. The bandage connotes to being hurt from something. I believe that the publisher intended to done this to courage the viewer to be themselves rather than the traditional boring girl that was ideal for the target audience(females).
